  • Wednesday, September 2, 2015 | 7 PM: A Historical Perspective on LGBT Rights in Cuba & Current Challenges
    Hear Cuban MD & Gay Activist Alberto Roque Guerra who coordinated Cuba’s medical program of comprehensive treatment for transgender people. Dr. Roque has written, presented & consulted widely on LGBT issues in Europe, Latin America & the U.S. This will be his first visit to Wisconsin. Free & open to the public at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center (1110 N. Market St., 2nd Floor, Milwaukee, WI 53202).   • Tuesday, September 8, 2015 | 7 PM: Monthly Cuba Coalition Meeting
    Join us! We’ll discuss what we can do to support the September 16-18, 2015 Actions Against the Blockade in Washington D.C., and the visit by Dr. Luther Castillo, at Milwaukee’s Central United Methodist Church, 639 N. 25th St. at Wisconsin Ave. We generally meet there at 7pm on the second Tuesday of the month. Our meetings are always free & open to the public.
  • Sunday, September 27, 2015 | 4 PM: Medicine for People, Not for Profit – Hear Dr. Luther Castillo
    Dr. Castillo was president of the first graduating class of Cuba’s renowned international school of medicine (ELAM), and is featured in two inspiring documentaries, ” Revolutionary Medicine” and “Salud”. ELAM provides free medical education for committed young people who promise to return and work as doctors in underserved communities in their homelands, and is currently educating two women from Wisconsin. This event will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 639 N. 25th St. (at Wisconsin Avenue). Free & Open to the public; donations accepted to support this work.
